Family Celebration

This time of the year is always a little sadder for us.  4 years ago our Daughter Monica passed away, and since that time we have always had a little family get together. This year was no exception. Nothing fancy just our Son KR, Our Granddaughter Holly and her Husband Jameison.

I just realized yesterday that on her birthday she would have been 49.  Times sure does pass fast.  We took time to look at our old family pictures, most of which were black and white.  Brought back a lot of good memories.  One of my next projects will be to find a method to transfer those old black and whites to digital as well as our 2500 35MM slides.   In this day and age there has to be a way to do this.  If you know of when please drop me a note.

Nancy made this Cheesecake. Great taste

Deviled Eggs are always a treat.

Family Picture.  Nancy is showing off the first
pictures of Monica

More Monica pictures.   KR is looking at the old Olan Mills
album.  It cost about 50 dollars when we signed up for
it and glad now that we did.  Not sure what the cost would be now

Jameison, Holly, Rick and KR.

Holly made this delicious Chocolate Cake.  Everyone
had their share and then some

Excuse the bad picture.  It was the camera's fault.
Fully automatic and sometimes it goofs.  This is
the only one twosome I had so will be keeping it

Jameison, Holly and KR going over more family pictures.
Part of the collection are news articles and pictures of
my side of the family.  My Father was killed in WWII
and the obituary was one of the articles they saw.

No dinner is complete without the kitchen mess and cleanup

Nice Picture. KR and his Mom

Thanks for viewing our family blog and we hope you have a great week and summer

Hocking Hills Ohio

We live just a few miles from the Hocking Hills.  It is a great place to just take a drive along the back roads and see all there is to see.  The trip from our home in Canal Winchester, through a small part of the hills, was about 100 miles.  This is also a great drive during the fall.  Lots of color here in Ohio.   I hope you enjoy the pictures.

In the late 60's my parents used to camp at Adena Ridge.  The
campground is gone but here is the old road

Another view of the  Adena Ridge Campground Area
The area is about 5 miles from our home

Metal Turkey's along Route 33 east of Lancaster Ohio.
If you exit at the 33 bypass and business routes , there is
a road that takes you into the parking area.  Nice place to visit
The official name of the area is the
Flight of the Hawk Sculptural Park

Lancaster had a Corvette Rally today. This is one that
pulled up along side of us.  Lots of collector cars
of all years and models in Lancaster Ohio

Hocking River.  Pretty small.  Locals say it is so
small it only runs twice a year

Boat on Logan.  I used to fish this lake many years
ago.  Northern Pike, Bass,, are just a few of the
fish in this lake.  In addition it has a nice shoreline
to look upon when fishing is slow.

Lake Logan Campground. There is another campground
at the east end of the lake

A cove at Lake Logan. I remember years ago there
was a article in the Columbus Dispatch about
a small boy catching a 5 lb plus bass off of the bridge
to this cove. Located near the dock area

Lake Logan Dam and spillway.  Nice picnic area
adjacent to the dam

Lake Logan boat dock and picnic area.  This is just
a pretty lake and a easy place to put in your boat

This is Jerry's. Years ago this was a Evinrude engine
repair and sales store.  Building still there but
the business is gone

Swimming area at Lake Logan   It is always busy but plenty
of room for more

This is the west end of the lake and never caught many
fish here, but it sure is pretty. Always tried it but
not very successful

Laurelville Ohio is a big supplier of firewood in the area.

A few motorcycles in the over flow parking area for the

and the area upgraded.  This is now part of the campground

Lots of cars in the Old Man's Cave parking lot.  You should
see the same area in the fall.

Many cars and families enjoying the Old Man's cave
area.  There is no charge to enter, so this makes a
nice family outing.  This is especially true
 in the current economy

There are 3 levels of parking in cave area
