Wild Turkey's in Canal Winchester

The Wild Turkey is one of the most famous birds
in North America. In fact, Benjamin Franklin
wanted to make the wild turkey, not the Bald Eagle, the national bird of the United States.

In the 25 plus years we have lived in this home
there have never been wild turkey's on our
property. What a treat

Wild Turkeys have excellent vision during the day but do not see well at night. They run about 25 mph and can fly up to 55 mph.

The Turkeys make a short run on the ground and then like a rocket fly just about straight up into the tree tops. A sight to behold. Last night Nancy counted 21 wild turkeys. Wild Turkeys were almost extinct in the 1930's but thanks to hunter conservation programs there are over 7 million today.

Thanks for viewing the blog and have a great week. Happy Thanksgiving.
